Greeting Cards: The Girl with the White Cat and The New Baby

I have been a bit busy lately, but made the time to create two more greeting cards for my Etsy shop, again using beautiful papers and two more lovely images from Ireland Rose Studios on Etsy.

This is such a lovely image of a little girl
in white sitting with her white cat...

Of course, I have two cats so couldn't
resist this image, which I collaged with
pretty scrapbook papers, scrim,
trim, and vintage lace and brown velvet,
 along with old mother-of-pearl buttons...

This little girl has such a precious face...

I left the card blank inside so that it could
be used for any number of occasions...

The image that I used in the card below is so beautiful,
and its light tinting lent itself to the beautiful art deco
paper...

Again, we see my usual embellishments of old lace
and velvet ribbon, trim,
and a vintage mother-of-pearl button...

I printed out the quote on the inside which to me says
it all about a new baby...

I just listed these in my Etsy shop.

Thanks for coming by!

Kids on Potties and a Romantic Couple: More Greeting Cards

Good morning. I was about to start tidying up my studio and get ready to do some fabric collage, but decided to make a couple more cards for my shop instead, since the papers were scattered all over already!

I saw the little photo that I used in the card below on Etsy.
I can't help but wonder where these kids all were
when this photo was taken.
I thought it was so cute, and so very different from any
other photo in my collection.
I think the reason is obvious.
So it wanted me to think "outside the box" and come
up with the idea of using it for a general card that
might be used where teamwork is being celebrated.
I also thought it would add a light touch to a perhaps a
family working together during an otherwise sad time...

I love these papers from DaisyD's, which I bought quite a while
ago.
I also used red and turquoise as a color scheme that is also
outside of my comfort level,
but seemed so right for this little photo...

The little circles at the bottom are punch outs and were part
of the paper series.
I attached them with pop dots for a some dimension,
along with some coordinating ribbon and rick rack...

Also part of the paper design was a sheet of punch out tags,
so I used one on the inside tied with some narrow ribbons.
I liked that there was a spot on the bottom to add the date...

Getting back to my norm,
I created this card which could have been used as a
Valentine's Day card (I'm a little late. I know.),
but would be nice for an anniversary, engagement card,
or just to tell someone you love him...

This gorgeous image is another from Ireland Rose Studios
on Etsy.
It looks so pretty with sheet music, velvet trim and vintage lace...

...and a few paper flowers to match the paper and the belt on this
lady's dress...

I stamped the inside with some beautiful words.
I've had this stamp for a while and don't remember ever using it...

I hope you enjoyed seeing these.
They will be in my Etsy shop shortly.
Thanks for coming by today!

Greeting cards with pretty digitally downloaded photos...

Hello and happy Thursday!

The other day I purchased a few digital downloads from one of my favorite shops on Etsy, Ireland Rose Studios, found here, and incorporated them into a couple of cards.

I love the little girl in this photo with her big stuffed bear.
Because she looks a little sad,
I created a card that could be used for various sentiments,
such as Get Well Soon, Thinking of You,
I Miss You, or Sympathy...

I think that the mom and child in this photo are beautiful.
What better image could you use for a Mother's Day card?...

The image used in the card below was from a shop on Etsy called
MDR Grafix Postcards,
and I bought this a few years ago.
It seems like she is no longer in business,
but she also had some stunning images.
I actually made this one a couple of years ago,
and found it yesterday.
I think I made two of them at the same time,
one for my husband for Valentine's Day and one
for whatever...

All three will be listed in my shop today.

Ballerinas and Little Girls in Print Dresses

Happy Sunday! I hope that you all had a great weekend.

I spent most of the day Friday and Saturday cooking (chicken soup and pot roast) so I decided to give myself some creative time again today.

I put to good use some of the beautiful vintage photos that I acquired not too long ago and enjoyed matching them to just the right papers and embellishments. They have been listed in my Etsy shop, seen on my sidebar.

A few months ago I won the bid on this photo on eBay.
I was so excited as I think that it is one of the most beautiful
ballerina photos in my collection!...

I couldn't resist putting this sentiment on the inside,
as it went so well with the front.
I happened to discover it in my old stash of
long-forgotten scrapbooking materials...

I think that I bought the little photo in this one around
the same time.
Couldn't resist doing this one in a flower theme...

I jazzed up the inside with the line drawing of ballerinas,
which was part of the sheet music used on the front.
The sentiment is from the same piece as that used in the first card.
Both were bordered in little pieces of cardstock...

I had this beautiful patterned paper and it was so busy
that I had to use it to highlight these little girls' dresses.
I also got to make use of some beautiful vintage
charcoal grey velvet ribbon,
antique torchon bobbin lace,
and of course,
old mother-of-pearl buttons...

I left the inside blank on this one so that it could be used
for any occasion...

One of these days I will have to work on some fabric collage.
But I'll let the interest in the greeting cards run its course first!

I'd love to see more of what you have been creating lately!
Thanks so much for coming by.

Making some greeting cards...still!

Happy Sunday my friends! I hope that you are well.

Today it was kind of a dreary day, and I was thankful for my sister-in-law and her hubby coming over for some brunch. After they left, I had some time and did not feel like doing any housework (Sunday is a day of rest, after all) and decided to make and list a couple of cards in my Etsy shop. The Mister is watching football, so why not?!

How can we resist these little darlings?...

But I think the postcard in the one below is one of
the most beautiful that I have ever seen.
I just love these little girls with the one
sitting on the fawn...

I hope that you had a great weekend.
I apologize for not commenting on any of your blog posts,
but I have to play catch-up with my blog reading!

Making some greeting cards!

Hello friends!

I have been cleaning out my studio and decided to organize my scrapbooking papers. I was never actually a scrapper, but I do find it as hard to resist beautiful papers as much as I do beautiful vintage fabrics, so I had more paper than I could possibly use in a lifetime.

After I organized them I decided that they were all going to waste, as were the many embellishments that I purchased to go with them, and I decided to start making some greeting cards for my Etsy shop. It was fun to coordinate the various papers with the Edwardian postcards that I recently wrote about here, so here are some that I created. I had forgotten just how much I love to create cards.

A birthday card...

A few Easter cards...

And some general, all-occasion cards...

I'm hoping to get them on Etsy shortly!

Have a great evening...

Christmas in July: Vintage Santa Photos

Merry Christmas! Well, not exactly, but I am celebrating "Christmas in July" in my etsy shop by listing a few vintage Santa Claus photos.

I have scanned six photos from my personal collection
and made them available as digital downloads....

They would be perfect for holiday cards or gift tags.
Or, a few of them would be lovely incorporated into a Christmas banner.
If you like them you can find them here.

I would love to see what you might make with them!
Don't eat too much Christmas ham today.

Rhinestone Cowgirls and Straight Shooters

Good morning friends. A while back I showed you a glimpse of some cowgirl fabric collages that I had started to put together, and am happy to say that I have finally completed them! They are companion pieces of sorts, since I used bits of the same fabrics on each. Don't you find it so much easier to create a couple of pieces when you don't have to keep choosing fabrics and embellishments over and over again?

The fabrics that I used absolutely don't in any way go with the photos, but I thought it would be fun to experiment a little with the unexpected. I hope that you like them!

The photos used on both pieces were old RPPCs from
the early 1900s.
I assume that they were souvenir or prop photos.
I copied them onto fabric, as usual!
For each of them I collaged everything onto muslin.
I incorporated various vintage fabrics:
velvet, silk, dupioni,
chiffon, and sari silk.
I then added vintage laces,
and small pieces of sequined sheer fabric
from an old flapper dress.

***********************************

To this one I added a rhinestone button onto a small crocheted
embellishment.
These ladies look like they would have worn anything in the
world but rhinestones, silk and lace!
Still, I couldn't resist...

The sequined flapper dress piece goes along the right
side of the photo...

To the bottom I added a portion of a vintage doily,
which I embellished with a vintage button to match the flapper
dress trim...

The hanger is made of coordinating sari silk tied in a bow...

For these straight-shootin' gals,
I pretty much used the same materials,
but in a different way.
These ladies were  far more comfortable holding
six-shooters than getting prettied up,
but I wasn't going to let that stop me!...

But, even they deserve a little respect,
so I gave them a wooden button instead of one with rhinestones...

The vintage silk velvet used towards the top of this one
was used on the bottom of the other piece.
It is a beautiful faded rust color...

...and the colors in the cowgirl boot chiffon that you see at
the left below dictated the color scheme of both pieces,
namely dusty rust, dusty peach, and shades of teal...

It was so much fun trying to incorporate my two favorite pieces
into this collage, namely the cowgirl boot chiffon and the sequined
flapper piece, which I have more of and will be using some time
in the future, I'm sure.

I have listed these in my Etsy shop,
which you can find here.

Have you used "the unexpected" in any of your creations lately?
