Good morning friends. I hope this post finds you all well.
What do horseshoes, lace, and driftwood have in common? Well, the other day I was out running errands and decided to stop at a little place not far from here that is owned by an elderly man who sells, for lack of a better description, "junque". As you can imagine, I love going there from time to time, as I never know what I might find. Sometimes, though, I go there with a specific purpose in mind. This time it was to satisfy my quest for an old horseshoe! I need one for a specific art piece that I plan on making for my granddaughter (more on that in a future post). Well, when I asked my little man if he had any, he smiled and said "walk to that box over yonder, and you will find some under the box of old jewelry". I could barely contain my excitement when I discovered these treasures! He mentioned that they are getting harder to come by, so I bought two "just in case"...
Sometimes you just never know what you can find, and where you can find it. Yesterday, my husband wanted to check out a store called Klingspor's Woodworking Shop down in Raleigh. It was a nice store that sold fine woodworking tools along with some rare woods. Lately, I have been collecting some beach-themed old photos. So imagine by joy when I noticed a table filled with pieces of old driftwood priced by the pound. I thought about my beach pictures, and well, needless to say I bought three small pieces. I am thinking some lovely assemblage. Stay tuned. By the way, Hubby bought NOTHING!!
As for the lace, more on that later as well.
Well, stay tuned until after I complete work on the invitations to my dad's 90th birthday party in March...hoping to finish those between today and tomorrow. I also plan on making him some sort of memory book, since I am the keeper of all his old family photos.
The weather is pretty cold, damp and rainy here, so I will make the best of it by sequestering myself in my art room.

You made me smile -- buying 2 horseshoes, just in case! True enough when something is rare you feel that urge to "stock up" or get "just one more". I love the driftwood idea for the old beach photos...and I'm intrigued about the lace!
