In a much earlier post, I mentioned that last summer I hybridized a bunch of daylilies in the hopes of getting some new color combinations, not to mention "free" plants. Well, in the fall I planted their seeds indoors in small pots, and looked after them all winter. They now have pretty good root systems and have sent up new crowns, so yesterday I started transplanting them into larger pots, and will let them spend some time on the front porch. They are still pretty tiny, so I will not plant them in the gardens as they will be swallowed up by the soil, not to mention moles and voles.
Getting ready....
My babies...
My spreadsheets showing which ones I
cross-polinated with what...
My biggest problem will be finding a spot to plant them all in when they are ready for the garden!
Wishing you a great day!
I love how organized you are! Hopefully within the next few weeks we'll be able to get outside and start getting things ready in the garden.
ReplyDeleteYou will! In the meantime, enjoy your time inside. I am so exhausted by the time I get in at night, housework and creativity sit on the back burner! Have a great day! XO
DeleteOh Wow! You sure do have a green thumb. My grandma did...she could grow anything and her gardens were beautiful. I can do the inside but struggle with the outside.

Hi Rebecca! Thanks for visiting and your kind comments! I don't have a green thumb as much as the ability to point my camera in the direction of only the halfway decent stuff! Trust me, I have my share of failures! You do definitely have a way with inside creativity. I love your blog. Hope you have a great day! Hugs back atcha!
DeleteOh, my, Sue, aren't you the "gardener extraordinaire" with your fancy hybridizations and all! I can't wait to see how they turn out!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWe'll see! I'll probably end up with the ugliest beasts anyone has ever seen, but the anticipation is fun anyway. I finished re-potting the rest of them today. I am told that they can take two years till the first bloom. I will try to be patient! Hope you're having a great day! XO
DeleteA spreadsheet - you mean business! Enjoy your time in the garden!
