"A Brother is a Friend" vintage fabric collage, and some recent finds...

Warm greetings from The Perch!

I have still been trying to complete all of those unfinished fabric collage pieces, so here is another from this past week. I just can't seem to get enough of old pictures, laces and buttons. Not to mention finding quotes to match the pictures that I like to use. I bet that by now you're wishing I would get back out in the garden. Or maybe bake a cake!

This is a beautiful photo of a brother and a sister.
I love the lace collar on the boy and wanted to
use the Battenburg lace doily in this piece...

...along with old buttons, as usual...

...and a little brass Vintaj flower in the
corner of the photo...

A close-up of these beautiful children...

Earlier this week, my husband and I were out and about, so he suggested we stop and browse at Vintage Village. Who could refuse that offer? So I happened to find the old paper flowers shown in the photo below for $.25 apiece, along with a roll of old beige satin ribbon, and some old pearl buttons with those loop-things on back. These will come in handy to make the hanger on my grandaughter's piece (which is almost complete). The sheet music in the background is from the 1800's, and I bought it a few weeks ago from eBay.

Stay creative!!

  1. I saw your beautiful collage on Pinterest this morning and had to pop by! Gorgeous work Sue! I love the sweet image too! I hope to get some photos of the new porch/sidewalk once the plants/wood chips are situated again. We had stamped/colored concrete done in a slate pattern and it has been quite the process - but well worth it! Have a wonderful weekend!

  2. This one really made me smile Sue. I have an old photograph of my grandfather with his 2 sisters and his parents, taken circa 1897 and he's wearing an outfit quite similar to this young fellow's!

    1. You should do a piece of art with that old photo. The fact that it is your own family would make it even more special!! XO
