"Give thanks for a little
and you will find a lot."
-- A HAUSA PROVERB
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I am giving some thought as to all that I am thankful for.
But I am not so thankful for the sadness in France this week.
My prayers are with the people that were so adversely impacted by the recent events in that country.
What terrible irony there is in that "the city of love" played victim to those with such hatred in their hearts.
Though I have never been to Paris, my great grandmother was born there,
so I feel a kinship to the people of that city and a love for the country that helped
ours become what she is today.
ours become what she is today.
Though I hope that the people of France are finding something to be thankful for,
it might be a little hard right now.
But it will come.
As it did after our own terrible day some years back.
This week I will join Wen's Simply Neutrals Tuesday.
Sue this collage is beautiful! I love the fabrics here, the sheet music, And the dried flowers you've added; so clever! It is so vintage lovely~ Thank you for sharing - and I think most everyone here has "Paris in their prayers" : /

ReplyDeleteThanks, Valerie! It seems like each day gets worse. What's next, I wonder. Stay safe. XO
DeleteThank you so much sweetie for your thoughtful and kind words. I have family living in Paris too. A nephew of mine only just escaped. He was on the news. It is terrifying. My dear man is to be leaving for Paris in a couple of days for a conference and I'm certainly not looking forward to it. I'm rather scared. Dear Sue, your collage is so gorgeous and sweet. It has a beautiful autumnal feel to it. Thank you for linking it to my party! Sending you hugs, xx
ReplyDeleteThanks goodness for your nephew, Wen. I will pray for your honey. I am at the point where I don't want to travel anywhere, especially by plane. Scary business. Many thanks for hosting again, and for your lovely compliments! Stay safe. Hugs back, Sue
DeleteSue, your collage is so sweet. I love the sheet music background, and the sepia tones.
ReplyDeleteThe France horror reminds me of 9/11 when ! was pregnant and flying home that morning from Brisbane. Surreal and yet real. I did not want to fly. The world felt different; not safe. My heart is with these families, too. It is such a complex situation, I hope we do not condemn innocent refugees because of it.
And we are so lucky, to have peaceful homes where we can create (above mere survival) and be thankful for our lives. It makes me feel guilty for being lucky. Then more thankful.
Hugs,
Jesse
Hi Jesse. Thank you for your compliment and your comments. I so agree with you. Every time I see new horrors unfolding I too feel guilty for taking for granted that we have nice lives while others don't even want to call their countries their homes anymore. I hope that things change soon for the better. Have a sweet week! XO
